Planet Asia
- One of the most respected lyricists in underground hip-hop
Planet Asia, born Jason Green, is one of the most respected lyricists in underground hip-hop, known for his razor-sharp wordplay, commanding delivery, and unwavering dedication to the craft of lyricism. Emerging from Fresno, he built a reputation during the late 1990s as a fiercely independent MC who carried the spirit of classic boom-bap into a new era of West Coast hip-hop.
Planet Asia first gained national attention through collaborations with fellow underground heavyweights and as one half of the acclaimed duo Cali Agents alongside Rasco. The group’s celebrated album How the West Was One helped solidify his reputation as a master technician—an MC capable of blending complex rhyme patterns with vivid storytelling and cultural commentary.
Over the years, Planet Asia has built an extensive solo catalog and collaborated with some of the most respected producers and lyricists in the underground scene. Known for his relentless work ethic and timeless approach to hip-hop, his music often reflects themes of knowledge, resilience, and the preservation of hip-hop’s lyrical tradition. With decades of influential releases and performances around the world, Planet Asia remains a pillar of independent hip-hop—an artist whose commitment to lyricism and authenticity continues to inspire both longtime fans and new generations of MCs.
